Clinical Acupuncture
Clinical Acupuncture is an integral part of Traditional Chinese Medicine, otherwise known as TCM. TCM theory asserts that the processes of the human body are interrelated and in constant interaction with the environment. Signs of disharmony, or imbalance, within the body help the TCM practitioner to understand, treat and prevent illness and disease. Acupuncture is one of the most powerful tools within TCM for re-balancing the body.
The concept of channels, or meridians, exists exclusively in TCM. The channels are a system of conduits that carry and distribute vital energy throughout the body. Every organ in the body is represented by a channel, and imbalances of a particular organ can be treated by using acupuncture points on the channel representing that organ. Acupuncture points are very specific areas on the channels that represent points of maximum influence on the flow of vital energy through them. The overall goal of Acupuncture therapy is to restore the flow of vital energy throughout the body, thus correcting any imbalances that may be present as a result of decreased energy flow.
Acupuncture treatments are approximately 30 minutes in length. All acupuncture needles are pre-sterilized and used only once.
